Heidi Artisan Schell (HAS) is an emerging Canadian designer maker. She began her study of Art and Craft at an early age and continued to explore creative materials throughout her youth.
In 2009 HAS graduated from Sheridan College with an Advanced Diploma in Craft and Design as a Glass Major. This is where Heidi was fist introduced to the material that is glass. Upon her first experience, after a demonstration, Heidi knew she would be forever changed and influenced by this gorgeous creative process.
In 2012 HAS graduated from the Alberta College of Art and Design (ACAD) with her Bachelor of Fine Art Degree as a Glass Major. Heidi spent the summer of 2012 on the east coast in Nova Scotia working out of a hot glass studio on the Cabot Trail. This experience was essential to her professional artist development as she learned to work production alongside other talented artists.
Heidi settled back in Ontario and started teaching Community Courses in Glass Techniques at the Living Arts Centre in Mississauga. In 2013 Heidi was accepted for the Fellowship Residency at the Living Arts Center. This Residency gave her time and space to create a new line of work. This opportunity has given her years of permanence in a creative space alongside other artists. Combined under one-roof LAC represents a large number of talented individuals who excel in their chosen areas of creative expression all while providing a wonderful community center. Here at LAC Heidi has developed a new line of work called “Indulge”. This functional décor line features personally designed, handmade products for all to enjoy. She has focused her skills and techniques into this series of products, pushing her forward to promote and sell at craft shows and retail stores. She is very excited to get out there and show the world what she’s got! Stay tuned.
