I think of my work as expressions of joy. Of gratitude. And of hope. When I am creating, it is either effortless or the most painful process imaginable. Rarely is it anything in between. I use bright, vibrant colour in my work, which I think can be traced directly to my childhood in South Africa. Africa is not a continent for the meek, that’s for sure. Since arriving in Canda in the early 90’s, I am more influenced by the starkness of the landscape of the north. It’s all about subtlety here, and I am slowly coming around to seeing that reflected in my work. I love painting. I love creating. I am concious of my good fortune to call Canada my home, and it influences my art in every way.
