I want my artwork to convey an emotional response from the viewer. A short animated film, painting or drawing should engage the viewer to think of an idea, a feeling, or the unlimited possibilities that we as individuals or as a society have.
Mena is a freelance artist that lives and works in Mississauga. She strives to integrate her love for painting and drawing with the art of Animation. Her paintings have been to several exhibitions in Toronto and Mississauga, including three solo shows in Toronto in 2012, 2015 and 2016, titled “Dare to Dream” and “What is Your Truth?.
Mena’s short animated films have been to several Festivals in Canada and US. “Shadows on the Wall” was nominated for Best First Animated Short at the AnimazSopt Festival in 2009.
Her love for painting and drawing motivated a change in her career path; and in 2009, she finished a Bachelor of Applied Arts in Animation with Honours from Sheridan College. Previously, she graduated with a BA in Geography and completed a M.Sc. in Planning from U of T.
Presently, she is the sole proprietor of MAAD Productions, a member of Visual Arts Mississauga, Raindance Canada, and TIFF. Mena is an organizing member of the Figurative Expressions Group, and attends Studio Q Master Class with other artists.
