For abstract artist Rachel Albano, painting is an intuitive process. She evaluates and reacts to each painting as it progresses through multiple layers. Her response involves a physical scraping back of layers, and a combination of covering and revealing that culminates in a cohesive piece that testifies to this process. The use of palette knives creates a sense of rawness and roughness- a loss of control that invites an element of chance into the work.
Rachel received a degree in Studio Art and Art History from the University of Guelph, and now resides in Elora, Ontario. Her desire is that the cathexis, or investment of emotional energy instilled into her paintings, would resonate with and bring inspiration to her viewers.
