I paint in oils, acrylics, and mixed media. My work is based upon energy created from the interplay of form and colour, and upon the flow created between surface areas. By extensively incorporating texture into my paintings, I use reflected light to emphasize surface depth, which further structures connections.
My subject matter is taken from nature, for example from leaves, groups of trees, moonlight, or water, through which I represent an organic flow of energy; from music, through which I express a more mathematical flow; or from themes of human or divine interaction, such as those found in the Bible or classical mythology, where the tension can be simultaneously expressed as both organic and mathematical.
After mentally deconstructing an image, I rebuild it through colour, form, texture, and, most importantly, connections between its parts, using this energy to help form a finished piece of work.
