My works are based on capturing moments in time which I interpret and express into a painted fiction. I seek to appreciate, discern and articulate that present moment and subject as it passes into an impression. I usually work Alla Prima, Italian for “at the first” where I complete a painting almost always from life, in one sitting while the paint is still wet. I work this way because it forces audacious, concise brushwork which is intrinsic to the individual. The start is loose and thin placing the underpainting for subsequent brush work. Bold brushwork is then superimposed creating a energetic yet convincing look. This is my language of paint.
