We live in a world of constant visual stimulation. With so many lenses through which we are shown the world, painting has never been a more necessary form of expression. While cameras and computers allow us to record ourselves and our surroundings, only art allows us a visual record of our emotions. Painting, whether representational or abstract, is at its best when communicating a feeling. Some impression beyond a mere reproduction. Through painting, printmaking, drawing and other media, I strive to communicate a mood, an impression, a feeling deeper than the surface level. Working from life, memory, literature, music, my work presents an interpretation of sensory and emotional landscapes, equally open to interpretation from its viewers.
